Introduction to Plauti Desktop

Plauti Desktop is an app that offers Plauti's services, hosted on your own machine. Currently it provides performance-enhancing services for Plauti Deduplicate for Salesforce and MS Dynamics, such as running Deduplicate and Search Index jobs, and an independent Data Flows service for bulk importing data into Salesforce and MS Dynamics, and bulk exporting from Salesforce. In the near future more services will be added.

As Plauti Desktop runs on your local machine, only one user can access the app at a time. For multiple-user access, use Plauti Server or Plauti Cloud.
However, you can connect to multiple Salesforce Orgs and MS Dynamics Envs at the same time.

Plauti Desktop for Deduplicate Jobs

For Plauti Deduplicate, Plauti Desktop replaces the earlier DC Local app. Just like DC Local, Plauti Desktop uses the processing power of your local device to run Deduplicate and Search Index jobs. Particularly for larger Deduplicate jobs, processing will be remarkably faster.
When you manually or automatically start a Deduplicate job in Plauti Desktop, encrypted records in Salesforce or MS Dynamics are downloaded via a secured connection, and temporarily stored on your local machine until all duplicate results are found. When the job is finished, results are pushed back to Salesforce or MS Dynamics, where you can review the results and execute an (automatic) merge or convert. The encrypted records will automatically be removed from your local device, keeping it 100% safe and secure.

Import and Export Data

The Import and Export Data Flows feature is a standalone service (not tied to Plauti Deduplicate). Import CSV or Excel files of any size into a Salesforce or Dynamics environment, with support for any Object or Entity type, and handy features like previous mapping memory. Perfect for data migration projects. In the same vein, export a CSV file with data from a Salesforce object or a subset of records, from selected fields including parent fields. Exporting for MS Dynamics, as well as other data processing options, will be available soon.

Plauti Desktop features

Plauti Desktop has some features of its own, such as Connections and Notifications. You can set up Connections to let Plauti Desktop communicate with multiple Salesforce Orgs and MS Dynamics environments.

Compatibility

Plauti Desktop is an application that can be installed on a Windows or MacOS laptop or computer. It runs on the same machine as where you use Salesforce or MS Dynamics. If you want to install it on a different machine, for example to host the app for multiple users, or if you want to run it via Docker, use Plauti Server instead.

For Plauti Deduplicate, Plauti Desktop is available for the Plauti Deduplicate Premium and PDM editions. Furthermore, Plauti Desktop is compatible with all Salesforce editions, except for the Plauti Deduplicate Auto Merge feature. To use Plauti Deduplicate Auto Merge via Plauti Desktop, Salesforce Enterprise or higher is required.

Currently not fully supported by Plauti Desktop

• Scheduled Jobs for Plauti Deduplicate are only supported if you are also using Plauti Server.
  Generally speaking, it is recommended to use Plauti Server or Plauti Cloud‍ for Scheduled Jobs.
• Running multiple jobs. Plauti Desktop can queue multiple jobs from multiple Orgs and Environments, but it can only process one job at a time. For running several jobs concurrently, use Plauti Cloud instead.

The Plauti Apps

Plauti Desktop offers the convenience of keeping all activity on-site on your local machine, or with Plauti Server on your own server. Plauti Cloud offers the same features as Plauti Desktop and Plauti Server, but has some advantages over those as well. For example, Plauti Cloud can run several parallel jobs at the same time. Another plus is that Plauti Cloud only runs a server when it’s needed, so it's more environmentally friendly than Plauti Server.

All apps offer secure data transmissions, and remarkable speed compared to executing actions within Salesforce or MS Dynamics. Utilizing all apps instead of just picking one, depending on your use cases, is also possible of course. In that case, do keep on eye on which app processes what.

Note that some services, such as running deduplication jobs on Plauti Cloud, or using Plauti Server, are paid. Others, like running deduplication jobs on Plauti Desktop, or importing/exporting data, can be utilized at no extra cost.
